If you want to become a driving instructor you must have no more than 6 penalty points on your licence which you must have held for at least three and a half years. You must meet the required need of the DSA to be a fit and proper person. You will be required to hold a full enhanced CRB certificate which is carried out free by the DSA. The ADI test is in three parts:

Part 1: A multiple choice computer based section plus a computer bases hazard perception test.
Part 2: A test of your driving ability which includes an eyesight test.
Part 3: A practical test of your instructional ability.

The theory element of the test (part 1) can be taken any number of times but once it has been passed the trainee then has two years from that date to pass the other two parts (parts 2and 3) You may only attempt parts 2 and 3 three times each. If these parts are not passed you have to wait until the full two years has elapsed after passing part 1 before you can retake the three tests beginning again with part 1.

Each person is different and we look at a person’s needs individually and therefore don’t specify until we discuss with you where your needs will be greatest in the way of training. This way you will receive the training you need in the areas you need it and not where you don’t.

We realise that many people need to continue to work whilst they are training and we offer a pay as you go scheme to enable you to train this way. We ask for a small deposit to reserve your course. The remainder of the courses is paid as you take the training. However we do give a discount if a course of training is booked and paid for in advance. We also do run fast track courses if you want to get through your training quickly with commensurate discounts given.
